*What is “Cashback”? Cashback is a cash reward that gets sent by retailers to Split users whenever those users drive Qualified Purchases to their sites. (Example A: Alex clicks on Natasha’s Walmart SplitLink and then makes a Qualified Purchase -> Walmart will pay Cashback to both Natasha and Alex. Example B: Alex clicks on his own Nike SplitLink and then makes a Qualified Purchase -> Nike will pay Cashback to Alex.)
*How do you earn Cashback? Cashback results when Qualified Purchases get made through SplitLinks. So, in order to earn Cashback, you must either (a) share a SplitLink that gets used by someone else to make a Qualified Purchase or (b) click a SplitLink and make a Qualified Purchase yourself. Tap here for specifics on (a) or here for more info on (b).
*What are some of the easiest ways to earn Cashback? There are 3 simple ways to earn Cashback: (1) Click on someone else’s SplitLink and then make a Qualified Purchase. (Tap here for more details.) (2) Click on your own SplitLink and then make a Qualified Purchase. (Tap here for more details.) (3) Share a SplitLink that someone else uses to make a Qualified Purchase. (Tap here for more details.)
*How much Cashback can I earn on a purchase? Generally speaking, Cashback amounts range in size from 1% to 30% of the total Qualified Purchase amount. (So, if the total size of the Qualified Purchase is $1,000, you could receive as much as $300 in Cashback.)
*What are “Qualified Purchases”? Simply put, they are purchases of Cashback-eligible items from Network Retailers. (Note: not all retailers participate in paying Cashback, and some participating retailers exclude certain items from being eligible.)
*Where can I find a list of Network Retailers? Simple! Log into your Split account (via the web app, or any mobile app) and visit the SplitLinks -> Network Retailers tab to see a full list. Alternatively, you can always check whether particular sites or retailers are “in network” by downloading Split’s mobile app(s) and/or Desktop Extension(s) and performing simple Google searches (Split will indicate in real-time exactly which of the search results are “in network” and which ones are not).
*How long after a SplitLink is clicked must a Qualified Purchase get made in order to result in Cashback? Short answer: it depends on the retailer’s Referral Window (which is the length of time between click and purchase that a retailer allows in order for purchases to qualify for Cashback). Generally speaking, Referral Windows for most Network Retailers vary from 2 to 30 days (which means that for some links, purchases must be made within 2 days, but for others, purchases can be made as many as 29 or 30 days after the click).
*How long after a Qualified Purchase is made does Cashback arrive? Generally speaking, Cashback will arrive in your Split account within 72 hours of a Qualified Purchase. However, in rare cases, Cashback may take much longer to arrive (Cashback related to travel - such as hotel stays, for instance - often arrive only after travel has been completed).
*What’s the difference between Cashback, Cashback Boosters & Indirect Cashback?
Cashback is a cash reward paid by retailers to Split users when their SplitLinks are clicked (by themselves or others) and Qualified Purchases made.
Cashback Boosters, on the other hand, are referral bonuses that are triggered when Qualified Referrals earn their own Cashback. Example: if User A refers User B to Split, and User B then earns Cashback, User A will earn a Cashback Booster. Easy!
Indirect Cashback is similar to regular Cashback, except its paid to users who (1) may not have been directly involved in sharing or clicking a particular SplitLink used in a purchase, but (2) still deserve to earn part of the resulting Cashback for having recently driven the lead. Example: if User B clicks User A’s Nike link on Monday, and User B then shops his own Nike link on Friday, User A will earn Indirect Cashback when User B earns his Cashback (even though User A’s link was not used to make the actual purchase).
